The Marian Zaichkowski Endowment Fund for Literacy

The Literacy Coalition of New Brunswick Ltd. Endowment Fund was set up in 2004 in partnership with the Fredericton Community Foundation. The fund is currently valued at approximately $204,000. In honour of the original chairperson of the Endowment, it was renamed the Marian Zaichkowski Literacy Endowment Fund in November 2008.

The Endowment Fund is a perfect vehicle for those corporations and individuals wishing to have their dollars support literacy in perpetuity. Any corporation, business or individual may contribute to the endowment fund by making a donation to the LCNB signifying that it is for the Endowment Fund. Charitable receipts are issued for donations of ten dollars or more.

The Marian Zaichkowski Endowment Fund is set up to permanently provide additional funds to established adult and family literacy programs in New Brunswick to enable them to:

• purchase much needed classroom resources and learning materials
• provide professional development for teachers and tutors
• support adult learners in reaching their goals.

Revenue generated from the principal of the Endowment is distributed annually, most often in the fall of the year. The LCNB Ltd. works in partnership with la Fédération d'alphabétisation du Nouveau-Brunswick and Laubach Literacy New Brunswick to review applications for funding from the Endowment and to distribute the revenue from the Fund.
