How Can I Help?

There are many ways to help the literacy cause in New Brunswick. Would you like to:

  • Contribute financial resources?
  • Offer your time to become a literacy tutor or volunteer?
  • Donate new children's books to our public libraries?
  • Sponsor a Coalition special event? For more information see below.

Financial Donation

In the early 90s the three provincial not-for-profit literacy organizations in New Brunswick had a vision: to establish a fund that would support literacy programs in perpetuity. They knew that literacy problems in our province could not be fixed when the federal government only provided funding on short term projects in an unstable environment. Rather it will take sustained programs delivered to those in need over many years to accomplish full literacy.

When the Literacy Coalition of NB was offered the opportunity to host the annual Peter Gzowski Invitational Tournament for Literacy (PGI) fundraising event for New Brunswick, the Board of Directors decided to take advantage of the opportunity to fulfil the dream of establishing an endowment fund. Using 30% of net proceeds from the event to create the fund, our goal is to continue to grow the endowment to provide the means to leverage and sustain the work of Adult and Family Literacy groups, to help learners achieve their goals and to give all people in New Brunswick the chance to have a better, more fulfilled life.
