The Literacy Coalition of New Brunswick and la Fédération d'alphabétisation du N.-B. have partnered to continue the tradition of honouring New Brunswickers who work to support family literacy in our province. The Honourable Marilyn Trenholme Counsell initiated these awards when she served as Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick.

"I am so humbled that the two literacy coalitions in the province are continuing this tradition. There are so many New Brunswickers involved in helping our youngest citizens develop a love of reading. It is important that they receive recognition."

Awards are intended for people who support the literacy development of children aged 0-5 years. There are six categories:

• a published author of a children's story who lives in New Brunswick
• a published author of children's poetry who lives in New Brunswick
• an individual
• a grandparent
• a library
• and an organization

Awards are juried by a selection committee.
